Sure, staying in Disney World hotels can be a lot of fun on vacation, but it isn’t super fun for your wallet. There are plenty of advantages to staying at an off-site Disney World hotel. Here are some reasons we think you’ll be happy should you stay in off-site hotels at Disney World.
While staying on site can be a lot of fun, staying off-site at Disney World can be a great experience, too! Here are some of the best reasons to stay off-site when planning your Disney World vacation.
1. Save a lot of money by staying in an off-site Disney World hotel
The most obvious benefit to staying off-site at Disney World is the ability to save a lot of money. Disney hotels are wonderful, but they also cost more than off-site hotels of equal quality. By staying off-site, you ensure you have money leftover to pay for items it’s a lot harder to save money on, like tickets or dining.
2. Get rooms with more space off-site
Not only are rooms at off-site Disney hotels cheaper; you can often get larger rooms for the same price or cheaper than Disney hotels. If you’re looking at spending $400-$500 at a deluxe resort for a regular sized room, you could spend the same amount of money to get two rooms at an off-site hotel or even a suite.
In the past, we’ve spent half as much money renting an off-site vacation home that had three times the space as the Disney rooms we would have stayed in. So if you have a lot of members of your party or need to spread out, staying off-site is a great option.
3. Take a break from Disney
We love Disney, but we can’t say the same for the rest of our family members. By staying off-site, you can provide people who don’t love Disney (yet) some space from the mouse. You don’t even need to visit any of the other local attractions.
We recommend taking a break from the parks and some people might appreciate just having a break from Disney overall. If you are staying at a vacation rental with a pool or a nice hotel like the JW Marriott (which can often be cheaper than Disney Deluxe hotels), you can enjoy your day off and head back to the parks refreshed.
4. Save money on dining
While we’ve discussed saving money on dining elsewhere, you can definitely save money by staying and dining off-site. When you stay off-site, you’ll naturally look for ways to eat outside of the Disney parks, which will save you money on dining overall.
